The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner listed Handy’s cause of death as a stab wound to the torso. Neck compression was also listed as a contributing factor, according to People, which reported that officials ruled his death a homicide.
Police said officers responded to the 19200 block of Erwin Street after a 911 call about trouble at the home. Handy was found unconscious in the front yard with a stab wound to the chest.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took him to a hospital. He was pronounced dead there.
