In-N-Out Reveals 4 New California Locations, and One Has Already Opened

California burger lovers have another reason to get excited. In-N-Out Burger is expanding its footprint in its home state, with four locations recently making headlines across Southern and Northern California.

For anyone who has ever driven past an In-N-Out and wondered whether the drive-thru line was worth joining, more restaurants could mean another convenient place to satisfy that burger craving.

The popular chain made headlines in late September after four California locations appeared on its upcoming restaurant list. The locations include Chino, Commerce, South El Monte and Stockton.

But there’s already a delicious twist. One of those restaurants has since announced its opening, while others remain in various stages of development.

Here’s where the four locations are, what customers can expect, and why these additions are worth watching.

Chino Is Getting a New Burger Stop

Chino residents have something to look forward to as In-N-Out expands into the growing Town Center at The Preserve development.

The new location is planned for 8245 Pine Ave., Chino, CA 91708.

This isn’t just another small burger stand squeezed between existing businesses. Plans call for a 3,886-square-foot restaurant with plenty of room for customers to enjoy their meals.

According to city spokesman Matthew Bramlett, the planned restaurant will have 74 indoor seats and patio seating for another 60 people.

For drivers who would rather enjoy their Double-Double without leaving the car, the drive-thru will accommodate 30 vehicles.

That’s a sizable setup for a neighborhood that continues to welcome new homes and businesses.

The location is approximately 10 miles from Chino’s existing In-N-Out at 3927 Grand Ave., potentially giving customers in The Preserve a more convenient option.

The location also has an interesting local connection. In-N-Out already operates a distribution center about two miles from the new site.

In late September, the company projected an opening by early 2027. However, an official restaurant listing has since displayed operating hours without a dated opening announcement, leaving the exact status unclear.

Commerce Is Finally Getting Its In-N-Out

For Commerce, this restaurant has been in the works for years.

Local reporting indicates efforts to bring In-N-Out to the city date back to at least 2020. After years of negotiation and planning, construction finally began.

The development is near Interstate 5, next to Commerce Casino and Hotel and across from Costco. That’s a convenient location for shoppers, visitors, and drivers passing through.

And yes, the plans include a drive-thru.

One detail to know before heading out: published addresses differ. In-N-Out’s announcement listed 6232 Craig Lane, while local reporting identified the development site as 6233 Telegraph Road.

The restaurant also fits into Commerce’s broader plans to strengthen its retail and entertainment corridor.

According to the company’s late-September estimates, the Commerce restaurant was expected to open later in fall 2026.

The exact opening date hasn’t been confirmed, so customers should check In-N-Out’s official restaurant listings before making a special trip.

South El Monte Has Another Location Coming

South El Monte is also preparing to welcome the familiar red-and-yellow signs.

Unlike restaurant rumors that circulate on social media, this project has a documented development record.

California’s environmental filing, posted June 30, 2025, identifies the project as a proposed 3,886-square-foot drive-through restaurant at 1221 Santa Anita Ave.

The City of South El Monte is the project’s lead agency.

For local burger fans, the important takeaway is simple: this isn’t merely wishful thinking. The restaurant has gone through a formal development approval process.

In early September 2026, company representatives described the project as progressing through construction.

The company’s later estimate pointed toward an opening by early 2027, although no specific date was confirmed.

That means residents may still have to wait before pulling up for burgers, fries, and shakes.

For now, it’s another example of In-N-Out investing in the communities that helped make the chain a California institution.

Stockton’s New Restaurant Has an Opening Date

Stockton is the location where the story has already moved forward.

In-N-Out announced on October 8 that its newest Stockton restaurant would open the following day, October 9, 2026.

That makes Stockton different from the other projects on the original four-location list.

The restaurant also comes with some appealing features.

The company announced 84 indoor seats, another 48 seats on a covered patio, and a single drive-thru lane.

The opening also brings an employment boost. In-N-Out said the restaurant would begin with approximately 60 associates, with a starting wage of $22 per hour.

The company also expects to hire more in the coming months.

Located at 10537 Trinity Parkway, near Interstate 5, the restaurant provides another possible stop for travelers moving through California’s Central Valley.

Stockton already has an In-N-Out at 5202 Pacific Ave., so this addition gives the city another location rather than introducing the chain.

For customers on the northwestern side of town, that’s welcome news.

Why In-N-Out Keeps Expanding Carefully

In-N-Out may have a devoted following, but it doesn’t rush to open restaurants everywhere.

Harry and Esther Snyder founded the chain in Baldwin Park in 1948, and it built its reputation on a simple menu and a focus on fresh ingredients.

That approach still influences how the company grows.

In-N-Out says its restaurants must be close enough to its in-house patty-making facilities for deliveries to be completed within a day’s drive. This helps explain why expansion tends to happen gradually rather than all at once.

The company operates more than 400 restaurants across 10 states, yet California remains its largest market.

The latest projects show that even as In-N-Out expands into other states, it continues to invest in the place where it all began.

What Burger Fans Should Know Before Visiting

There’s an important difference between a restaurant being announced, being under construction, and actually opening for business.

Stockton received an official October 9 opening announcement, while Commerce, Chino, and South El Monte had projected opening windows rather than confirmed dates in the latest reporting available.

If you’re planning a burger run, check the company’s official restaurant locator before heading out.

After all, nothing ruins a craving faster than arriving at a restaurant that’s still surrounded by construction equipment.

For California’s In-N-Out fans, the bigger picture is encouraging. More locations mean more opportunities to enjoy the chain’s familiar burgers, hand-cut fries, and shakes without traveling quite so far.

And with several developments still moving forward, the Golden State’s love affair with In-N-Out shows little sign of slowing down.
