Ingredients Notes
For this flavorful, and moist, strawberry bread with banana recipe you will need the following ingredients:

- Sugar-Use your favorite preferred sugar here! Used granulated but you can use coconut sugar as well!
- Butter-I recommend salted butter for this recipe but if you do not have salted butter just had a teaspoon of salt to your recipe! Also, feel free to substitute vegan butter for this recipe as well.
- Bananas-I recommend ripe bananas for this recipe to make your batter extra sweet and delicious! To ripen your bananas quicker you can place them in the fridge overnight, or you can place your bananas in the oven, skin on, for 20-30 minutes at 300 degrees or until the skin turns black!
- Eggs-remember to whisk in the eggs until completely incorporated into the wet ingredients
- Buttermilk-If you do not have buttermilk at home, make it homemade in less than 5 minutes! All you need is 1 tsp of white vinegar that you add to your milk of choice, wait 5 minutes, and you have homemade buttermilk!
- Vanilla-You can use vanilla extract or paste here. I used extract.
- Baking soda-Be sure to fully incorporate your baking soda! I recommend equally dispersing throughout the batter and mixing well so that you do not end up with a baked ball of baking soda in your bread.
- All-purpose flour-If you want to try a gluten free version of this recipe then I recommend using King Arthur's measure for measure gluten-free flour!
- Freeze dried strawberries-Be sure to use a food processor to turn your freeze dried strawberries into powder so that it can be easily incorporated. Adding powdered strawberries is an easy way to incorporate natural strawberry flavor with no dyes, or artificial colors.
- Chocolate chips-Use your favorite chocolate here. I used semi sweet chocolate chips which was perfect but I have also made this recipe using white chocolate chips! YUM!

Then add the baking soda, flour, and powdered freeze dried strawberries until just incorporated. Avoid overmixing the batter.

This recipe is so perfect for those quick lunches or snacks when your hungry! Or when your expecting company over. Just defrost your bread from the freezer for about 3 hours and you are set!
Top Tips
A few tips as always:
1. Use freeze dried strawberries! Perfect way to add strawberry flavor without the added sugar or artificial colors/dyes!
2. Split the recipe into two loaves as the recipe is written. It bakes faster and you get double the bread! I always either freeze the other or gift one to a friend.
3. Be sure to not over mix the batter! If you want a moist and tender banana bread, that is the most important tip!
Strawberry Bread FAQs
It is very important to use only as many bananas that are recommended in the recipe. If you use too many ripe bananas then your bread can have an under done, mushy quality. Also, ensure that you check that your banana bread was baked all of the way. You can do this by using the tooth pick test. You insert a tooth pick into the center of your banana bread, and if it comes out clean then it is cooked all of the way through.
The key to a moist, fluffy banana bread recipe is to not overmix the batter. Gently mix the batter until just combined. If you over mix your batter, you can get a dense, tough texture with your banana bread.
Since banana bread recipes typically call for eggs, your bread will likely stay fresher if stored in the fridge in a airtight container, or resealable plastic bag, in the fridge for 5-7 days or you can freeze your bread in the freezer for 3-4 months!

Chocolate Strawberry Bread Recipe with Banana
Equipment
- 2 Loaf pans 8 x 4 inches
- 1 Mixing bowl
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Granulated sugar
- ½ Cup Salted butter (softened)
- 2 Medium Bananas (ripe)
- 2 Large Eggs
- ½ Cup Buttermilk (or add 1 tsp of white vinegar to milk, wait 5 minutes, and you have homemade buttermilk!)
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon Baking soda
- 1 ¾ Cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1.2 ounce bag freeze dried strawberries (powdered)
- ¾ Cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus extra for the top!)
Instructions
- Prep: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease two bread loaf pans that are 8 x 4 inches. Pulse freeze dried strawberries into a fine powder.
- Prepare the Buttermilk: Add 1 tsp of white vinegar to your milk of choice, set aside, and wait 5 minutes. Then you have homemade buttermilk!
- Make the batter: Cream butter and sugar in a stand mixer until light and fluffy. Add the mashed bananas, eggs (one at a time), vanilla extract, and buttermilk, to the stand mixer, until well mixed with the butter and sugar. Add the baking soda, strawberry powder, and half the flour to the wet ingredients and mix ONLY until just combined. Then add the other half of the flour. Make sure to scrape the edges of the stand mixer or bowl. Do not overmix the batter.
- Add the chocolate chips: Then mix your chocolate chips with 1 tablespoon of flour before adding to the batter (to prevent your chocolate chips from sinking in the batter while baking) and then mix in the chocolate chips into the batter until just combined.
- Bake: Pour and split the batter in between two loaf pans. Add additional chocolate chips on top. Then bake! Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown on top and until the toothpick comes out clean from the middle (always check with a toothpick in the center of the bread loaf to avoid an under done dough that could sink in the middle of your loaf).
- Cool: Remove from the oven and allow the banana bread to cool completely in the loaf pans before removing. Then remove from the loaf pans and enjoy!
