Popeyes Brings Back Cajun Onion Rings at Participating U.S. Locations for an Advertised $3.99

Popeyes customers have another side to consider alongside their fried chicken. Cajun Onion Rings returned to participating U.S. restaurants on November 2, 2026, bringing a familiar menu item back after roughly a decade-long absence.

The advertised price is $3.99 per order. Availability is limited, and prices may vary by restaurant and ordering method.

For longtime customers, the return offers a chance to revisit a menu memory. But anyone expecting the precise coating they remember should treat the new version as its own offering, not a confirmed recreation of the earlier recipe.

A Familiar Side Returns to the Menu

According to Nation’s Restaurant News, Popeyes brought back onion rings after years of customer requests and testing at select U.S. restaurants this summer.

The publication traces the side’s history to at least the 1980s, citing Sporked. It reports that onion rings disappeared from most U.S. menus during the 2010s, though availability wasn’t necessarily uniform across locations.

Customers continued discussing the discontinued side on social media and online forums. That interest adds a nostalgic element, but the practical question for anyone ordering today is simpler: what does the current version offer?

What the $3.99 Price Covers

The advertised $3.99 price is for an à la carte order of Cajun Onion Rings. The rings are sold separately, not as a standard side in a combo meal.

Prices can vary by location and ordering method. Delivery orders may also involve additional fees, so the amount shown at checkout may differ from the advertised price.

The rings are available for a limited time and while supplies last.

Customers can check the Popeyes menu and select a restaurant to look for local availability and pricing. Calling ahead is another option before making a trip specifically for the rings.

Cajun Seasoning and a Crunchy Coating

The current offering pairs onion rings with a crunchy, Cajun-seasoned exterior.

In a November 2 review for Tasting Table, Michael Palan described a coating that held together when bitten, with the onion remaining inside rather than slipping free.

Palan sampled the product at a Popeyes-hosted tasting in Manhattan. He found the seasoning noticeable without being overwhelming and said it became more apparent as he kept eating.

He also reported that the rings were not especially greasy to the touch. After letting them cool, he found the coating retained much of its crunch.

His strongest praise concerned that combination of texture and seasoning, rather than a resemblance to the older onion rings he remembered.

How They Compare With the Earlier Rings

A returning menu name does not necessarily mean an earlier recipe has been restored.

Palan remembered the previous onion rings for a flaky coating. He described the new version as having a more conventional breaded exterior, even while praising its crunch.

That distinction matters for customers whose expectations are tied to the older product. His comparison suggests a different eating experience, but it is not an ingredient-by-ingredient verification of a recipe change.

The current rings can be considered on their own terms: an onion side with Cajun seasoning and a coating that earned favorable texture comments in his tasting.

Whether they match a particular customer’s memory is a separate question.

The $10 Chicken Offer Is Separate.

Popeyes also introduced a limited-time offer featuring six pieces of Signature Bone-In Chicken for $10.

The chicken promotion launched alongside the onion rings, but they are separate offerings. The $10 price should not be described as a meal that automatically includes an order of rings.

Customers interested in both should check their selected restaurant’s menu for the applicable prices and availability. The onion rings carry their own advertised price of $3.99.

Keeping those offers separate helps avoid an unexpected total when ordering.

What to Know Before Ordering

The return gives longtime customers a chance to compare the current rings with their memories of the earlier version. For first-time buyers, the key details are the Cajun seasoning, crunchy coating, and separate à la carte price.

Check local availability before visiting, particularly because the offer is limited and supplies may differ between restaurants. Confirm the final price through the ordering method you plan to use.

The familiar name may explain the attention, but the new rings will ultimately be judged by what arrives in the bag.
