McDonald’s Monopoly Is Back for a Second Year With a $1 Million Grand Prize

That familiar moment of peeling a Monopoly sticker off your McDonald’s order is back, and this time you could win some seriously big prizes.

McDonald’s has officially brought back its popular Monopoly promotion for a second consecutive year in the United States, with the 2026 game kicking off on October 6. The promotion features everything from free food and gift cards to vacations, vehicles, and a $1 million cash prize.

But before you start dreaming about what you would do with a million dollars, a few things are worth knowing. The game combines the classic peel-off pieces customers remember with an app-based experience, and some of the biggest prizes come with important conditions.

Here’s how it all works and what you could win.

For longtime McDonald’s customers, Monopoly brings back memories of collecting colorful property stickers, comparing pieces with friends and hoping the next order might contain something special.

The promotion first launched in 1987 and became a familiar part of the fast-food chain’s history. After disappearing from the U.S. market for nearly a decade, it returned in 2025 with a digital update.

Now, McDonald’s is keeping the tradition going.

The 2026 edition brings back physical peel-off game pieces, giving customers that familiar little surprise when opening their food packaging. However, one major difference from the old days is that you need the McDonald’s app to participate fully.

Customers collect pieces from eligible menu items, scan or manually enter their codes in the app, and follow the instructions to discover what they’ve received.

Some pieces offer instant prizes, others help complete Monopoly property sets, and certain pieces unlock digital Chance Card plays.

McDonald’s says the updated game is designed to offer more rewards and simpler gameplay while keeping the nostalgic experience customers recognize.

And with a million dollars on the prize list, there’s certainly an incentive to pay attention to those little stickers.

The $1 Million Prize Comes With an Important Catch

The biggest headline-grabbing prize is undoubtedly the $1 million cash award.

However, winning doesn’t mean you get a seven-figure check right away.

According to official McDonald’s Monopoly prize information, the $1 million prize is paid in annual installments of $50,000 over 20 years, with no interest.

That’s still a substantial amount of money, but it’s different from receiving the entire prize upfront.

The promotion also lists only one $1 million prize in its initial prize pool.

Unlike traditional Monopoly property-collection prizes, this jackpot is available through the game’s digital Chance Card feature.

The result of a Chance Card play depends on when the player begins it. The game’s animation doesn’t determine the outcome, and no publicly verified fixed numerical probability exists for winning the million-dollar award.

The promotion advertises overall winning odds of about 1 in 5, but those winnings are mostly food rewards.

In other words, don’t mistake that statistic for your chances of winning a car, vacation, or cash jackpot.

Of course, the million-dollar prize isn’t the only reason customers might want to participate.

McDonald’s has offered a wide variety of rewards, from everyday treats to experiences that could create unforgettable memories.

Some of the more notable prizes include:

  • Cash prizes: $100,000 property-collection awards, $10,000 Chance Card prizes, and smaller cash amounts.
  • Vehicles: 2027 Jeep Cherokee SUVs and a selection of Polaris vehicles.
  • Vacations: Carnival cruise packages, Hilton resort getaways and trips to Universal Orlando Resort.
  • Experiences: VIP visits to Kennedy Space Center and trips to iconic McDonald’s locations worldwide.
  • Shopping rewards: Best Buy gift cards, Ulta Beauty rewards and other retail prizes.
  • Food rewards: Fries, drinks, burgers, McNuggets, and desserts.

The prizes also include entertainment and merchandise, such as Funko collectibles, Audio-Technica turntables, and exclusive crochet kits from The Woobles.

Some rewards that sound particularly generous deserve a closer look.

For example, the advertised McDonald’s for a Year prize is actually a $1,040 gift card, calculated as $20 per week for 52 weeks. Similarly, DoorDash for a Year comes as a $1,560 electronic gift card.

Neither prize means unlimited orders throughout the year.

Still, the range of possibilities is pretty entertaining, whether you’re hoping for a free snack or something considerably bigger.

How to Play McDonald’s Monopoly in 2026

Getting started is straightforward, although a little preparation can help you avoid missing out on bonus opportunities.

First, download or update the McDonald’s app, create an account if necessary, join MyMcDonald’s Rewards, and register for the Monopoly promotion.

After that, look for specially marked packaging on eligible menu items.

Participating products include Big Macs, Quarter Pounders with Cheese, regular 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, large fries, certain breakfast sandwiches, and qualifying large beverages.

Not every menu item is included, and participating packaging is available only while supplies last.

Once you receive a piece, peel it, then scan or enter its code in the app.

If you order through Mobile Order & Pay or use an associated Rewards code, eligible purchases can also earn bonus Chance Card plays. Just make sure you’ve registered for Monopoly before placing your order.

Players can enter up to eight physical-piece codes and use up to eight Chance Card plays daily.

One practical tip: keep your physical pieces after scanning them. McDonald’s may require them when verifying certain prizes.

There’s also a no-purchase entry method available by mail, although requests must follow the official instructions and arrive by November 2.

Don’t Miss These Important Monopoly Deadlines

The main promotional period runs from October 6 through November 1, 2026, but not every part of the game ends on the same date.

Players have until November 8 to use Chance Card plays, while the general prize-claim deadline is November 22.

Leftover marked packaging may also continue to be distributed after November 1, subject to the official rules, with eligible pieces still enterable through November 22.

The promotion is open to eligible residents aged 18 or older in the 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C., at participating locations.

Before claiming a reward, check the specific redemption conditions. Some subscription prizes, for example, require a payment card and can automatically renew into paid subscriptions unless canceled.

With the game officially underway, McDonald’s has given customers another reason to inspect their packaging before throwing it away.

Whether your next piece reveals a free order of fries or a shot at something much bigger, the fun is in discovering what’s hiding underneath.

Just remember that enjoying the game doesn’t require spending extra money chasing a rare prize. After all, sometimes the best Monopoly surprise is getting a little something back from an order you were already planning to make.
