Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream

Whole milk Heavy whipping cream Vanilla extract A pinch of salt Sugar, divided Cubed angel food cake Fresh strawberries, coarsely chopped

Ingredients:

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the milk, whipping cream, vanilla, salt, and ¾ cup of sugar. Stir constantly for 3 to 5 minutes as the mixture heats and the sugar dissolves.

Cool slightly and then transfer to a bowl. Place plastic wrap over the top, making contact with the milk mixture to make a skin, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the cubes of angel food cake on the baking sheet in an even layer.

Toast in the oven for 30 minutes. Remove and allow to cool completely at room temperature. Meanwhile, in another saucepan, place the strawberries and remaining sugar.
